So now that I've got a blog setup more or less the way that I like, I've realised that I'm not actually sure exactly what my intention was for it.
After a bit of thought, and a bit of self-referential irony, I've come to the realization that I'm really tired of listening to myself think outloud in writing. I've decided that as much as possible I'd like to use this as a way of recording "fact, not speculation". This means that I'll primarily be using this blog for two things.
-
The new forum for Wordup postings. Wordup is a mailing list that I've been running for five or six years where I mail out things that catch my interest. Sort of an old fashioned mailing list version of what people do with linkrolls these days. I've been meaning to make the change over to a blog for lots of reasons (not the least that mailman's list archives kinda suck), but mostly simple because it sounds like it will be an interesting learning process for me.
Subscribers will still be
able to get Wordup via email, it's just that I'll be posting the
entries here, and then relying on rss2email to forward the
message onto everyone. Of course if you prefer you can opt out of
email and use the RSS feed or just
check the web page instead. -
As a diary of things that I've done (not things I've thought about doing). The primary reason for this is to encourage me to actually do/finish things and also to act as a person record of what it is I do with my time.
We'll see how it goes eh?
UPDATE: Oh the irony as I move this post to my new ikiwiki blog ...
